Slide Canceling is a popular tactic in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone. It allows you to quickly transition into and out of crouch. Doing this repeatedly in rapid succession makes you a difficult target. For example, you can use it to help you cross an open field and dodge enemy sniper fire.
In multiplayer, you can slide-cancel around a corner to give the enemy less time to react in much the same away as bunny-hopping around a corner.
How to Slide Cancel on Keyboard/Mouse
Slide-cancelling in rapid succession may take some practice, but overall this tactic is not very difficult. First, make sure Slide Behavior is set to Tap under Options / Keyboard & Mouse / Movement / Behaviors.
Once that’s out of the way, you can use the following keystroke rotation to perform a slide-cancel.
- Tactical Sprint (double tap sprint button – default is LEFT SHIFT).
- Press the slide button (Default is LEFT CTRL)
- Press the slide button again before the slide reaches its natural conclusion
- Repeat as needed.
